We are specifically looking to recruit Chartered Engineers who have become qualified in the last 4years or less. This role offers the opportunity to lead project delivery of highways schemes for Strategic Highways, Local Authority and Contractor clients across the North West and UK. As a professionally qualified member of the team you’ll have the opportunity to develop future work opportunities as well as leading and developing team members.

The role is based in our Manchester office, with some travel expected, within the region, to ensure you can deliver value for our clients.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading technical delivery of highway engineering projects and growth into technical roles on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Project management and delivery, with appropriate training provided.
  • Act as Technical Lead, Checker or Technical Reviewer for projects.
  • Maintaining and developing excellent client relationships.
  • Line Management of a team of engineers, technicians and apprentices.
  • Leadership of teams, often including global teams connected via our virtual platforms and hybrid working.
  • Support the business in winning work including representing the business at networking events, preparing bids and tenders and establish, maintain and develop relationships with existing and prospective internal and external clients.

Key requirements:

  • BEng, MEng or MSc Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • IEng or CEng with a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE or CIHT).
  • Extensive experience of working with our key clients, e.g. Local Authorities, Highways England, Developers and/or major Contractors.
  • Demonstrable experience of highways technical leadership, managing project delivery and some experience of multi-disciplinary schemes.
  • Experience in highway alignment design including links and junctions.
  • A thorough comprehension of technical standards relating to highways design with experience in identifying and seeking approvals for departures in standard.

Preferred:

  • An awareness of Active Travel Design in England and/or Wales.
  • Experience of Active Travel England’s assessment tool and LTN1/20 application
  • Awareness of Manual for Streets 1&2 design.
