AtkinsRéalis continues to grow in the North Carolina marketplace. We are looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented Hydraulic Engineer to join our Charlotte, NC office.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • AtkinsRéalis supports NCDOT and various municipalities on their transportation projects, which includes but are not limited to roadway improvements, bridge replacements, culvert replacements, transit, rail, and aviation.  You will help with the design and analysis of open and closed storm drainage systems for linear transportation projects, hydraulic culvert/bridge design, stormwater best management practices, permitting, and develop erosion and sediment pollution control design plans.  You will occasionally support fieldwork such as verifying existing conditions and site inspections.  Design work tasks will involve the use of various hydraulic and hydrology engineering and modeling software such as HEC-Ras as well as Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software.
  • In addition to the tasks listed above, you will also complete and/or assist Project Managers with other various engineering projects related to water resources and civil engineering.  These projects may include, but are not limited to, storm water planning and design, watershed master plans, and FEMA NFIP regulations.

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (preferably with a specialization in Water Resources) from an ABET Accredited university.
  • 4-10 years of work experience.
  • PE required (or ability to obtain within a year).
  • Experience with Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, MicroStation, OpenRoads Drainage is preferred.
  • Experience in erosion and sediment pollution control design, Level III is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of NCDOT Drainage Guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of FHWA Hydraulic Design Guidelines.
