Instrumentation and Controls Technician

The Instrumentation and Controls Technician(s) are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the instrumentation and controls maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and replacement at the GTAA Cogeneration Facility (COGEN) and the Central Utilities Plant (CUP).

The COGEN is a 117 MW combined cycle facility built around (2) aeroderivative combustion turbine generators and a steam turbine generator. The CUP consists of boilers, chillers, and associated equipment to provide heating and cooling to the airport.

The I&C Techs will report to the O&M Manager who also holds the Chief Operating Engineer role. This role requires availability after normal working hours and on weekends, as needed.

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON (Onsite Work)

Your role within the Team:

  • Work within a team to maximize team performance in terms of health, safety and environment, compliance, reliability, efficiency, productivity, and plant availability.
  • Ensure all documentation, reports, and records are maintained and updated e.g., maintenance & inspections, procedures, daily operations, safety, projects.
  • Participate in capital projects of various sizes and complexity in a subject matter expert capacity.
  • The I&C Technician installs, maintains, calibrates, designs, and troubleshoots networking systems. Process control and environmental protection equipment including but not limited to the following tasks.
    • Installs, maintains, and configures control and process systems.
    • Calibrates, commissions, configures, installs, and troubleshoots all pneumatic, electronic, electrical, me Post secondary or continuing education in a related field.
    • Chemical and analytical instrumentation devices.
    • Calibrates and repairs analytical instrumentation that monitors or controls flow, level, temperature, pressure, acidity, conductivity, and humidity.
    • Services all process control communication networks.
    • Services environmental and other analytical instruments.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Education, Qualifications and Experience.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Post secondary or continuing education in a related field.
  • Red Seal Certification as an Instrumentation and Control Technician or equivalent.
  • Additional certification as an electrician would be considered an asset.
