Process Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of regional process standards to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Assess designs for practicality, weighing risk and cost factors, and integrate value engineering principles into design evaluations.
  • Review phase-based engineering deliverables, including scope-of-work, drawings, and BID packages, for design alignment and flag critical feedback for technical review.
  • Support process design efforts from concept through final design stages in Build Projects.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Technology Representatives to apply company-preferred practices effectively.
  • Ensure process engineering standards, policies, procedures, and job aids in capital projects comply with regulatory standards and align with global, regional, industry, and internal standards.
  • Provide high-level support for process engineering deliverables across capital projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis, propose enhancements, and implement solutions for performance optimization and risk management in partnership with Global and Regional Capability Centers.
  • Develop and enhance metrics, reporting processes, and mechanisms to uphold performance, compliance, and asset integrity in line with business requirements for process solutions.
  • Drive collaboration and coordination, promoting regional process engineering programs and policies.
  • Define regional service agreements and support global SLAs for process engineering to meet business needs.
  • Provide process engineering support for standard operational requirements.
  • Serve as an expert in your field, conducting research to identify issues with minimal guidance, and providing direction to support team members as a strategic contributor.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% within the APAC region.
  • Additional qualifications may apply.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards, including PIP (Process Industry Practices).
  • Extensive knowledge of industry practices and standards.
  • Proficiency with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and General Arrangement Drawings.
  • Experience in equipment sizing calculations, mass balances, control valves, pressure-relieving devices, and orifice sizing calculations.
  • Skilled in creating standardized equipment and instrument datasheets.
  • Experience as a process lead in 3D model reviews and plant layout evaluations.
  • Knowledge of process safety in design, including inherently safer design and experience with process risk assessments (PHA/PRAs, HAZOP, HAZID, What-If, LOPA).
  • Familiarity with human factors in design, inherently safer process principles, and food safety guidelines.
  • Proficiency with process simulation software, such as Aspen and PipeFlo.
  • Understanding of phase-gate capital project processes and Front-End Loading Phases (FEL-0 through FEL-3) and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED).
  • Familiarity with AACE cost estimation classifications.
  • Frequent collaboration with senior-level internal and external stakeholders requiring departmental coordination.
  • Experience with technical gap assessment and solution identification.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively across various levels of technical expertise.
