There has never been a better time to be a part of AtkinsRéalis! We are seeking a Project Cost Estimator to join our team supporting the Florida Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office in Ocoee, FL (metro Orlando area).

How will you contribute to the team 

  • Responsible for preparing estimates for transportation (bridge/roadway) projects including accurately projecting the cost of upcoming projects.
  • Providing information by developing the LRE model that builds up the estimated construction cost of a defined scope of work. 
  • Responsible for multiple estimates during the life of a project:  conceptual, preliminary design, final design, and total bid price (installed cost) estimates. Duties may also include preparing economic cost studies, cash flows, and contingency analyses.
  • Analyzes bid and design documents to perform detailed quantity takeoffs to support labor, equipment, and material cost development.
  • Performs detailed cost estimates by means of operational analysis utilizing past work experience and reputable industry publications for productivity assignment and overall cost development. Develops / builds the direct and indirect estimates in estimating software with guidance. Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates.
  • Revises estimates and reports to management accordingly.
  • Provides support in unit price documentation and selection.  Obtains cost information for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Performs related cost estimating and budgeting functions. Performs conceptual estimating.
  • Collaborates with scheduling team to develop productivity-based cost estimates and to ensure estimate stays up to date with scope changes. 
  • Reviews contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work, changes to scope, and cost estimates of scope changes.
  • Assists in preparation of independent cost estimates for submitted change order proposals.
  • Supports the review of estimates and proposals developed by third parties, including consultants’ estimates and contractors’ proposals.
  • Responsible for initial fact checking for scope, estimates, specifications, and other bid documents. 
  • May interact with clients to review scope and substantiate cost estimates prepared by others. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related degree and 3 years relevant experience, or
  • In lieu of education, 7 years relevant experience with the development of cost estimates.
  • FDOT Long Range Estimating (LRE) system experience.
  • FDOT construction and specification experience.
