As a Senior Bridge Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. We work on a diverse range of significant projects across the UK, including the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine and the Lower Thames Crossing. The team also supports non-transportation civil engineering and structures projects throughout the UK and internationally, as well as delivering a range of local authority projects for Councils across the North East. You’ll take pride in creating high-quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance, and assessments. Your purpose:

• Take pride in developing high-quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
• Collaborate with both national and international design teams, using your expertise and supervision to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
• Manage the production and review of high-quality design documentation, including sketches, drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Develop and agree scopes and manage the internal technical supply chain, including budgets, programme and quality of deliverables.
• Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and engineering judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option.
• Independently conduct technical work and provide guidance to junior staff members.
• Lead teams in the design, assessment, and maintenance of structural projects, and providing structures related input on multi-disciplinary projects.
• Lead bids and tenders, winning work and developing Client relationships.

What you can bring:

• A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• A professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
• Experience of collaborating with key clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities, major contractors and developers.
• Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards).
• Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
• Experience of structural analysis software packages such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
• Proven knowledge in design, maintenance and supervision of structures related projects together with a record of innovation in design and management of highway structures.
• Strong people skills and ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines.
• Good project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control and ability to deliver across a range of contract types. This will include an ability to manage stakeholders, e.g. specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.
