We are looking for a Senior Transport Modeller to join our Transport Planning team. Based in our Central London (Victoria) or Croydon office, you will work with our highly skilled teams progressing our transport modelling and data analytics capability; providing direction, training and support ensuring best practice is followed and taking a senior role in work winning and leading the innovative and efficient delivery of projects.  In London and the South-East, Atkins are Framework Consultants for TfL, Surrey County Council, Portsmouth City Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, Greater Cambridgeshire Partnership and Buckinghamshire Council (from April 2023), meaning that you will have the opportunity to deliver positive impacts in these areas. Our regional team also work across our national business and therefore contribute to projects at a national scale for many other local and national government bodies and the private sector. Your purpose:

Making the most of your transport modelling knowledge and experience, you’ll be part of both our local and UK-wide network of talented transport modelling specialists; collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver modelling on town centre master planning and highway, public transport and active travel design schemes.

You will have overall responsibility for the development and application of models, delivery of projects to time and quality parameters including adherence to the Atkins processes, and support business development activity including the preparation of bids and fee proposals for transport. You will also help support the development of other staff.

What you can bring:

Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate experience and capability in any of the following:

  • At least 5 years experience in transport modelling.
  • Background in the development, application and documentation of micro-simulation and/ or strategic modelling techniques using software packages such as VISUM, SATURN, VISSIM, CUBE and EMME.
  • Up to date knowledge and application on the latest modelling standards and guidelines.
  • Experience in the development and application of multi-modal demand models in accordance with TAG guidance.
  • Knowledge of the economic evaluation of transport schemes using COBA and TUBA.
  • Working knowledge of programming and data analytics.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation and communications skills.
  • Mentoring and organisation of modelling resource to ensure the highest standards of project delivery, whilst encouraging staff development.
  • Experience of project management and work winning activity.
  • Ability to develop relationships with and liaise with clients and stakeholders.
