AtkinsRéalis are looking to appoint a Social Value Consultant to support the development of our Social Value Consultancy Services within our Scotland, Northern Ireland & Ireland region.

Our approach to delivering projects ensures we maximise our contribution to social, economic, and environmental outcomes.

As a Social Value Consultant, you will be joining a growing team of social value professionals who are responsible for supporting our clients and internal teams in developing innovative approaches to social impact and enhancing our own social value strategy for the UK and Ireland business. Our team members gain experience on a diverse range of projects working with both public and private clients, local communities and across various sectors in the built environment.

Your Purpose:

The purpose of the role is to provide a social value service that will provide both strategic support and delivery services to our clients and internal teams.

The role will require client support and to win work for the business. This will include:

  • Strategic development of social impact policy, governance, and outcomes for our existing, and new clients, in alignment with their corporate aims and objectives.
  • Advise and manage social value requirements on behalf of our public and private sector clients’ frameworks and projects.
  • Provide expert advice to our clients on their strategies as part of an integrated team, for example, selected sustainability and social impact focused projects.
  • Advise and support client programmes and project managers in their knowledge and application of social value legislation and guidance.
  • Effectively embed social value into the project lifecycle for clients which may include premarket engagement, procurement process and contract management.
  • Establish, lead, and manage relationships with key delivery partners including clients, supply chains, local councils, industry bodies and third sector organisations.
  • Assist social value requirements within tenders and client proposals.
  • Draft strategic and thought leadership communication material.
  • Attend regional and national events.

This role will also require the internal development and ongoing delivery of social value activities which will involve:

  • Working closely with the Head of Social Value and Leads to further develop innovative approaches to social value.
  • Providing support and mentorship to the social value team members.
  • Ensuring compliance and achievement of company and project targets for social value.
  • Producing outcome-based reports and case studies in collaboration with the internal marketing teams.
  • Engaging with our regional teams, which include ED+I, supply chain and health & wellbeing leads, our clients and our supply chain in the development, delivery, and implementation of project specific social value delivery plans.
  • Researching, engaging and identifying social value deliverables with local partnerships that add value and support social value commitments.
  • Assisting within the delivery of social value activities in line with commitments made within projects and frameworks.
  • Working with different social value metrics and measurement frameworks.
  • Being able to record and measure outcomes from the activities and help to support creating impact reports and case studies.

This role will include influencing and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and will include:

  • Influencing industry bodies and key stakeholders on any policy changes or procurement amendments which impact social value outcomes.
  • Identifying local and International social value best practices and make appropriate recommendations to embed the right social value into strategic planning and delivery.
  • Maintaining a culture of social value collaboration & innovation across projects and frameworks to maximise the social, economic, and environmental benefits.
  • Attending and speaking at internal and external events to promote AtkinsRéalis, to develop our recognised position in the market.
  • Researching experience into social issues, current affairs, and macro-economic facts.
  • Being proficient in writing and presenting to different audiences and tailoring the tone.

What you can bring:

  • Experience in a community benefits, stakeholder management, contract management and delivery role within any of the following: construction, civils, professional services sector, regeneration, local authority, procurement and/or contract management.
  • A proven record in stakeholder management, community engagement and social value delivery on large infrastructure, construction, professional services and/or regeneration projects.
  • To be up to date on the latest social value legislation particularly in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland.
  • Strong experience in client management and collaboration.
  • Experience in planning, organising, and coordinating events that create social impact or awareness.
  • Excellent level of written and oral communications skills combined with the ability to be open minded, strategic, and collaborative.
  • Strong organisational and people skills, with an ability to influence and build rapport with senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Excellent IT literacy, particularly in using Microsoft packages such as Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Previous experience within bid writing and winning work.
  • Understanding of marketing processes, storytelling, and inclusive narratives.
  • A qualification in a social or sustainable subject or significant place-based experience.
  • Experience of working with community organisations or the non-for-profit sector.

Additional Information:

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
