The Green Line is Calgary’s largest public infrastructure project to date! Green Line will be a new system added to the current Calgary Transit LRT network, connecting more communities to safe, efficient, and affordable public transit. Phase 1 project is comprised of 13 new stations and 18 km of track and will include tunnels, bridges, park & ride facilities, and an MSF.

The Green Line Team is seeking an energetic, talented and skilled Systems engineering EIT to support the construction for the 78th Avenue scope of work by performing a submittal coordination role.  Opportunities to contribute to the Green Line team exist in a wide range of technical disciplines, ranging from LRT systems, Systems Engineering, bridges, structures, tunnels, environment, roadways, utilities, and others. As systems engineering EIT you will support the management of technical design and construction submittals and help to advance the project closer to completion. Following completion of the 78th Avenue scope, it is anticipated that further technical opportunities may be available across the wider Green Line project.   

The successful candidate will be integrated into the 78th Avenue team. Team members will also be offered exposure to technical areas that are of interest to develop skill within and based on the needs of the team. 

Your role within the team

  • Assist with the development of Rail Systems Costing Models for Design, Build, Operations and Maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the development of technical work plans to input into pricing efforts.
  • Assist with the development of preliminary costing data for bids and proposals.
  • Provide support for the development of bids, administration, and coordination of the growth efforts of the rail and transit division through rail technical knowledge.
  • Support of Systems Engineering processes and Systems Delivery processes.
  • Interact with Design Technical Leads, Construction Delivery Leads and O&M/M&R Support Leads.
  • Assist with the development of data mining protocols for various data streams from existing projects and operations.
  • Assist in the development of proposal budgets.
  • Assist in the development of risk assessments to ensure that the exposure to risk is fully compatible with the Company’s requirements and prepare supporting material with the project management team to ensure a thorough representation can be made to the Corporate Risk Committees.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with clients, partners and outside firms through the development of the proposal

The ideal candidate

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar.
  • Currently registered or eligible to register as an E.I.T. or P.Eng.
  • Experience with system integration knowledge and expertise in this domain. An asset.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in system integration processes and principles,
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • Strong written, presentation and communication/briefing skills; able to present to audiences of peers.
  • Strong relationship skills; able build trust and advocacy with others.
  • Knowledge of system integration practices and processes.
  • Good team player in a mixed team of systems integration and system engineering professionals.
  • Able to take part in discussions with the team member and peers.
  • Excellent written, presentation and communication/briefing skills; able to present to audiences of peers.
  • Strong relationship building skills; able build trust and advocacy with others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to engage staff.
