Get to know Pierce and what inspired him to become an Engineer.

Q: What is your role at Atkins?

A: I work as a Senior Engineer with the Water Infrastructure Team in Atlanta. Most of my projects are water and wastewater conveyance projects. I work with our team to design pipelines that rehabilitate or add new assets to our client’s systems to better serve their customers and our communities.

Q: What inspired you to become an engineer?

A: Growing up, I always enjoyed solving problems and observing what I would eventually learn in the engineering and construction industry. I loved watching large buildings and bridges being built with big equipment and the process of it all. This led me to Georgia Tech where I discovered a love for water engineering and way to be a part of the process that brings water to the people!

Q: How is collaboration central to what you do at Atkins?

A: Collaboration is central to what I do at Atkins every day. Successful project delivery to our clients requires our entire team of Engineers, Designers, Project Managers and Project Directors to work together and communicate during the course of the entire design process. I’m thankful Atkins has a diverse group of engineers with a wide range of technical expertise and experience from all over the world to work with our team and get the best solution delivered to our clients.

Q: Do you have any pets? Tell us about it.

A: I have a 5-year-old Goldendoodle named Finny! My wife and I got her when we were living in Texas. She thinks she is a human and wants nothing more than to be with her people- As I write this she is laying on top of my feet under my desk. She refuses to go outside if it is raining and her favorite activities other than cuddling on the couch are helping clean off our dishes before they go into the dishwasher and hunting chipmunks in our backyard!

Q: What would we most likely find you doing on the weekend?

A: On any given weekend I would most likely be found spending quality time with my wife, Lauren, and 6-month-old daughter, Lois. We love being outdoors, going on hikes and walks, hanging at breweries, and playing games. We live in a very walkable area and usually try to walk to a new restaurant or nearby shop every weekend. Our favorite is to walk to get coffee and breakfast on Saturday mornings.
