Corina, what led you to a career as a Billing Agent?


This is actually only my second full-time job. During my master's degree, I worked in customer support for almost two years. Still, I felt like I wanted a more challenging job after graduation. I was already aware of the billing agent role from a friend who previously interviewed for the company, so when I was approached by someone from HR via LinkedIn, I accepted the proposition to interview for this role. I thought it suited me well since I felt I had the required skills and was already working with French-speaking clients in my previous job.


What skills do you need to be a billing agent?



You need to be able to manage your time really well and be very organized. Because of the nature of the billing cycle, you need to have a sound system set up, prioritize accordingly, and make sure you are flexible enough to deal with unforeseen demands — which arise more often than you think. You also need to be a good communicator. Since the average billing agent works with dozens of project managers and business unit members, you must be open and learn how to best manage each relationship.


What do you enjoy most about your role?



There is always something new to learn, and no two days look the same. The work may vary greatly from project to project, so you always need to be quick on your feet. Although it might seem overwhelming at times, you never get bored and always have opportunities to improve.


What do you enjoy most about your team's culture?



There was never a moment when I had a question and nobody was there to help me. In this respect, I like my team very much. It genuinely feels like we are fighting for the same goal, and whenever someone is in need, a colleague can give a hand. The same can be said for our immediate management. In situations where their support is required, our needs are never neglected. I also feel like I developed a great relationship with business unit members, and we collaborate well to achieve the best results.


What is your outlook at AtkinsRéalis?



I would like to expand my portfolio by taking on even more diverse projects and to better my knowledge of the process and the tools we work with. I would also like to participate in the standardization billing process for certain clients to ensure the best possible outcomes. Last but not least, since I already had the pleasure of training a new joiner for the first time this year, I would really like to be able to do this in the future as well.
