Job Synopsis:

We are seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our growing Net Zero Energy Business. This position would be based in the central belt of Scotland, with a flexible mixture of home-working and office collaboration time expected. We also welcome applicants wishing to work part-time.

Our Net Zero Energy Business (within our Nuclear and Clean Power division) is actively involved in projects spanning offshore wind, energy storage (hydrogen storage caverns) and green hydrogen.

Our business unit offers a stimulating variety of work, from feasibility studies through to detailed design, site surveys and design verification. We are currently delivering a portfolio of projects such as hydrogen production, gas storage, battery storage and industrial decarbonisation projects and miscellaneous design and assessment work on hydro-electric schemes.

Your Purpose:

Do you enjoy a wide variety of tasks and projects? We are looking for someone versatile; you could be working on a small individual assignment or as part of a larger, multi-disciplinary team. You will enjoy working closely with clients on a range of demanding issues whilst helping to mentor and train more junior colleagues.

We are looking for someone motivated and with a positive attitude. We are building our Net Zero capability and would like someone to work with our civil and structural team lead to deliver technical work and support junior engineers.

Overall, you get satisfaction from building relationships, with clients and with colleagues. You enjoy getting to know people, and working out how you can have a positive impact on them – whether that’s delivering something that a client needs, or helping someone to progress within the organisation.

Examples of the types of work you will be involved in:

  • Supervising, developing, and mentoring others.
  • Leading technical aspects of civil / structural engineering projects. This may be over a range of design phases, from optioneering through to detailed design.

What you can bring?

In addition to having strong communication and leadership skills, key attributes include the following:

  • Master’s degree (MEng/MSc) qualified Civil or Structural Engineer.
  • Chartered Engineer and a Member of ICE or IStructE is desirable.
  • Strong technical background, with experience of steel and reinforced concrete design using relevant UK and international codes/standards.
