We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic, highly motivated self-starter with a passion for delivery of public transport, transit, Complete Streets, Vision Zero, regional and urban mobility to join our Atlanta, Georgia office as a Senior Transit Planner. The selected candidate will have experience with the FTA Capital Investment Grant (CIG) process, federal infrastructure grant development and grant administration, project development and NEPA compliance and documentation.  Experience in oversight of projects from conceptual planning through delivery would be a plus. As the project manager, you will oversee development of regional transit capital projects and facilities, and lead planning and design efforts for transit of varied technologies:  Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, Streetcar, other urban connectors and first- last-mile solutions.  The successful applicant would be eligible for AtkinsRéalis project manager training, as part of your on-boarding process.

Experience working with diverse community and government sector stakeholder groups is required.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with regional and local clients.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects of diverse scopes and complexities, including Bus Transfer Facilities, Light Rail, Streetcar and other urban circulator projects
  • Lead the planning and development of project deliverables consistent with State and Federal requirements, and in compliance with internal quality assurance standards.
  • Collaborate directly with clients to deliver responsive, client-centric service.
  • Develop and oversee project budgets and meet contractual requirements.
  • Perform technical analyses and compile project reports.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations.
  • Manage project teams to deliver according to contractually approved scope, schedule and budgets.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning, civil engineering or related field. Master's degree or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
  • Proven technical writing and communications skills.
  • AICP Certification or P.E. desired.
  • Bring 10 - 15 years’ diversified experience in transportation/transit planning; technical background and expertise in transit and/or transportation planning is preferred.
  • Serve as project manager through several project phases, such as concept planning/inception through design, environmental approval (NEPA) through Preliminary Engineering (PE).
  • Compliance with Georgia (GA) state and local transportation agencies, their standards, policies and practices would be a preferred skill.
  • Experience with applying technical excellence in transit and transportation planning, particularly FTA’s project development and funding processes.
  • Experience working under the umbrella of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
