Job location: UK wide - Flexible, London, Epsom, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham.

About the Project or About the Team:

Our team is currently delivering work across the Transmission and Distribution sectors across the UK as well as supporting other Energy and infrastructure business sectors worldwide. We are in a position where we need to grow our team to enhance our capability and strengthen our service offering. As such we are recruiting Engineers to provide support on our HVDC and FACTS projects.

What you’ll be doing?

You will be working in within our Energy Networks team. Our team has offices in Epsom, Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow but the role can be UK wide and flexible. Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices.

You will be accountable for the following but not limited to

Reporting to the HVDC Subject Matter Expert and under the supervision of senior and principal engineers you will be delivering projects for major key clients providing services such as owner’s engineer or design services to HVDC interconnector owners, offshore wind developers or transmission network owners.

Liaising with other technical experts within our organisation e.g., cable experts and other HVDC/FACTs experts in Montreal to provide an effective service offering to our clients.

Delivering on projects and carrying out tasks such as:

  • Specification preparation.
  • Technical Scope Reviews.
  • Design Assurance and Design Review.
  • FAT, SAT and site quality visits.
  • Technical Due Diligence and Technical expert services.
  • Site pre commissioning and commissioning oversight and supervision.
  • Operational faults analysis, assessment and failure reporting.
  • Supporting the production of tender responses showcasing our capabilities and ensuring cost-efficient offering for our clients.

We would love to hear from you if have:

A degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience. Working towards Chartered Engineer status through the IET.

Experience in either:

  • HVDC and FACTS in any of System Studies and FEED through Detailed Design to FAT and Commissioning.
  • HVDC/FACTS System design, equipment design, insulation coordination, filter design etc.
  • HVDC/FACTS Valve design, cooling design.
  • HVDC/ FACTS Plant design, Aux equipment design, layout etc.
  • HVDC Operations, asset management and technical support to HVDC Operators.
  • HVDC fault diagnosis and assessment.
  • Delivery of owner’s engineer, technical advisor or design services.
  • Experience of working for an organisation such as an HVDC/FACTs OEM, developer, OFTO, HVDC interconnector owner, transmission system owner/operator or consultancy delivering to such organisations.
  • A Phd candidate in Power electronic (HVDC/FACTS etc) research area who would want to transition to industrial setting.
  • An ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
  • Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
