Instrumentation Engineer

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of regional instrumentation standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company functional/business needs.
  • Support the creation and governance of the regional instrumentation technical strategy, sourcing strategy, and roadmap to meet business objectives and advance towards high-maturity Autonomous Operations.
  • Evaluate designs for suitability, balancing risk and cost considerations, and apply value engineering principles in the design review process.
  • Review engineering deliverables by phase, validate scope-of-work, drawings, and BID packages for design alignment, and highlight essential feedback for technical reviews.
  • Ensure that instrumentation engineering standards, policies, procedures, and job aids in capital projects comply with regulatory standards and align with global, regional, industry, and company engineering standards.
  • Provide advanced oversight for instrumentation engineering deliverables throughout capital projects.
  • Conduct overall analysis, propose recommendations, and implement solutions to enhance performance, identify acceptable risk tolerance, and collaborate closely with Global and Regional Capability Centers on continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and refine metrics, reporting mechanisms, and processes to ensure effective performance, compliance, and asset integrity of instrumentation solutions, in line with business requirements.
  • Foster collaboration and coordination in promoting regional instrumentation engineering programs and policies.
  • Establish regional and support global service level agreements for instrumentation engineering to meet evolving business needs.
  • Deliver instrumentation engineering support required for routine operations.
  • Act as a thought leader in your area of expertise, independently identifying issues through research and analysis. Provide guidance to supporting team members and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% in the APAC region, if necessary.
  • Additional qualifications may be applicable.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards, such as IEC, EN, ISO, NEN, and PIP (Process Industry Practices).
  • Strong background in plant operations related to instrumentation systems, with experience in Basis of Design (BoD), SIL, Safety Loops, inline analytics, valve design, and various instruments for Flow, Pressure, Temperature, and more.
  • Extensive interaction with senior internal and external stakeholders, requiring cross-departmental coordination.
  • Skilled in technical gap assessment and solution identification.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information across diverse levels of technical expertise.
