Maintenance Planning Analyst

TransitNext M&R is a wholly owned subsidiary of AtkinsRéalis O&M. TransitNext has been awarded a 27-year contract to maintain the Trillium Line, the newly extended diesel rail transit system in Ottawa designated as Lines 2 and 4.

The Maintenance Planning Analyst will report to the Senior Maintenance Manager and functionally report to the Systems Analyst.

Location – Ottawa, ON (On-site)

Your role within the team:

  • Schedule all preventative and corrective activities for maintenance assets covering vehicle, wayside infrastructure, stations and maintenance storage facility;
  • Consider workforce, material and parts availability, revenue service requirements, safety rules, and regulations when planning and scheduling preventative and corrective maintenance;
  • Manage resource interdependencies, associated constraints, and seek solutions to potential conflicts in conjunction with TNext M&R’s corporate objectives and contractual Key Performance Measurements (KPM’s);
  • Ensure that resources are available to meet the requirements of the maintenance schedule produced by the Maintenance Management System (MMS);
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and analyze new maintenance initiatives and assist frontline supervisors to determine material and labor requirement;
  • Prepare and maintain status reports for ongoing preventative and corrective maintenance activities;
  • Assist with the preparation of potential work assignments, performance analyses, status reports, delay predictions and historical information of section and job performance;
  • Advise TNext M&R management of scheduled repair/maintenance activities; facilitate reports to TNext M&R management as required;
  • Analysis of Maintenance Management System data, based upon established KPMs, and reconciling and interpreting this data for utilization in daily, weekend, and weekly planning;
  • Responsible for the timely and effective production of a variety of daily, weekend, and weekly operational planning reports to client;
  • Recommend, develop, and implement overall planning and process improvement initiatives to support TNext M&R management;
  • Be the main point of contact for planning needs relating to the MMS system, with ability to mine the data, interpret and formulate conclusions;
  • Assist TNext M&R managers with understanding of KPM’s and their applicability to failure events;
  • Function as MMS/PRS Key User in the following –
  • Ensure the asset register is maintained; correct or update existing asset records, add new asset records and delete obsolete assets;
  • Test any system changes, valuate results, and ensure any issues are corrected prior to system implementation;
  • Provide instruction and technical assistance to TNext M&R staff in their use of MMS/PRS;
  • Adhere to TransitNext M&R’s polices and procedures, including safety practices and health & safety policies;

The ideal candidate:

  • University degree or college diploma in the field of Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Logistics or Engineering Technology;
  • Project management work experience;
  • Previous experience in understanding and determining business KPMs and metrics;
  • Experience in the analysis of preventative and corrective maintenance programs and schedules;
  • Proven quantitative and analytical skills as well as strategic problem-solving skills, including collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Excellent technical writing skills and verbal communication skills;
  • Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables, advanced data filters, and Look Up functions, as well as working experience with other analytics technologies such as Power Query, Power BI, MS Office Suite, and Microsoft Edge in a Windows environment;
  • Previous exposure/experience in a transit operations environment an asset;
  • A willingness to devote the time and energy necessary to meet the significant demands of a high profile and key infrastructure project in the City of Ottawa;
