We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior Planner Scheduler to join our team in Blaine, Washington and support our client’s focused energy teams. The current role offers a unique opportunity to directly support our client’s Project Services function in all aspects of Schedule Management where you will support a diverse portfolio of investment delivery refinery projects varied in complexity from inception through to final close out.

How will you contribute to the team? 

  • Understand how to build and maintain an organized, engineering and construction schedule using CPM, resource loading, Work Breakdowns, baselining, coding, and cost accounts and document in Basis of Schedule. Support the “forward” planning of Engineering, Procurement and Construction during early project stages, utilizing preliminary concept and design information and target milestones for field mobilization.
  • Participate in Interactive Planning and Construction Planning Sessions –ensuring that comprehensive schedules are developed using industry best practices and site benchmarking data.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify resources and man hours required to complete project activities and maintain accurate estimate to complete man hours throughout duration.
  • Ensure all activity links are logic-driven and are aligned with project deliverables, Project Execution Plan (PEP), Contracting Strategy and Workforce Planning.
  • Update schedule progress in accordance with processes and procedures validating work completed, communicating deviations and variances in a timely manner.
  • Interface with project internal and external stakeholders on all schedule related matters and validate contractor schedules for accuracy.
  • Certify that Field Performance updates are being captured in the project schedules, and progress captured remains accurate at all times.
  • Closely monitor schedule performance against key performance indicators using systems such as Earned Value for productivity, trending and early warning identification.
  • Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float maintaining accuracy of schedule at all times.
  • Prepare and provide schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis on a periodic basis and lead progress communications and update meetings.
  • Perform schedule analysis and report findings, including critical path(s), longest path, milestone deviations and slippage analysis. Assist in developing recovery plans.
  • Account for approved change orders in the schedule and analyze their impact on the project.
  • Support Schedule and Cost integration to incorporate schedule related data into cost management scopes of work providing single source of truth.
  • Participate in continuous improvement scopes of work and have a direct and profound effect on a data-driven organization.

What will you contribute? 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or a related field, or 5 years of relevant experience, or alternatively 5+ years proven experience directly in Project Controls environment.
  • Must be fluent in the use of Primavera P6 software.
  • Oil and Gas or similar industry experience is preferred.
  • Certification with AACE, PMI or CMAA is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project controls systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with stage-gated project execution processes.
  • Ability to support multiple active projects simultaneously.
  • Familiar with energy industry working practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of operator project set up, verification and assurance scopes of work and all activities associated.
  • Maturity in Engineering, Procurement and Construction scopes of work in both a cost and schedule driven capacity.
  • Generally experienced with other Project Controls disciplines and how schedule scopes interface.
  • Must be articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and good decision-making abilities.
  • Must be proactive and forward thinking on schedule development and management scopes.
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to lead schedule related communications.
  • Must generally understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Cost Management systems.

Salary $110,000 to $150,000 depending on experience.
