Role Summary

The Project Director will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary project team in the execution of major projects. Working in collaboration with AtkinsRéalis global market leads, the Project Director will supervise the preparation of the overall project plan and execution strategies for management review and manage the approved plan to achieve project deliverables and timeline objectives.

Key responsibilities encompass, but are not restricted to:

  • Participate in the preparation of the budget at the time the tender is awarded.

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring that all parties fulfil their obligations under the Project Agreement.

  • Provide regular reporting to AtkinsRéalis senior management and interested parties with information on critical issues regarding the project, and implementation.

  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships, including with project teams, Clients, contractors, partners, etc.

  • Support the management team reporting to you in their activities related but not limited to: Engineering, Procurement, Planning, Contract Administration, Cost Control, Estimating, Quality, and Health, Safety, Security and Environment

  • Monitor progress of work for timely execution of the project through daily/weekly/monthly/ reports with respect to review of the overall project.

  • Provide leadership & direction to various contracting agencies during Project Execution, maintain ongoing relationships between the contractor and company and ensure that the project/area managers’ business dealings with clients, subcontractors and vendors are conducted to a high professional standard.

  • Promote quality awareness and health & safety standards in every sphere of project activity and AtkinsRéalis.

  • Promote teamwork and a spirit of cooperation among employees.

Desired Skills, Experience and Capabilities

  • Extensive project management experience in the Energy generation sector, with demonstrated experience in the role of Project Director on major projects.

  • Experience leading projects with a value of $500M+ from tender to completion, including commissioning.

  • Expert knowledge on Construction Safety Standards with ability to drive safety culture.

  • Proven people leader demonstrated by treating others with dignity and respect and fostering a culture of accountability and strong performance in a project management environment with matrixed reporting.

  • Superior communication skills including the ability to facilitate meetings, communicate with virtual and large teams and build a high level of credibility with staff and clients.

  • Ability to influence, advise, and recommend courses of action to management and executives, including managers and executives within client or partner organisations.

  • Capable of participating in a meaningful way at the executive level by providing the Senior Management team with honest, forthright, objective and strategic insight in a constructive manner

  • Professional/Chartered Engineer with a degree in a relevant discipline.
