Responsibilities

Working in collaboration with the design team to prepare the following deliverables / provide the following services (non-exhaustive list):

  • Prepare the conceptual design of the complex projects.
  • Carry out/ review/analyze complex technical studies and project scopes.
  • Develop/ review technical specifications, drawings, and standards of equipment/ projects.
  • Review the design basis memorandum, and detailed engineering scope and guide the assigned discipline engineers to align the engineering deliverables according to project requirements.
  • Be an integral part of the delivery of accurate and thorough electrical design that will meet industry standards and specifications to meet good engineering practices.
  • Maintain complete project documentation with respect to engineering studies and calculations, all design packages, as-built requirements and return data information.
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal groups that support the project such as other Engineering disciplines, Drafting, Procurement, Construction and Project Management etc.

Requirements

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of eight (10) years of relevant industry experience.
  • Eligibility for registration with a Professional Order of Engineers.
  • Knowledge of modern power systems, power system protection, and transmission & distribution system
  • Strong knowledge of transmission and distribution systems
  • Experience in developing and reviewing protection and control schematics for distance, differential, and feeder over current and other common protections and major substation equipment.
  • Experience in relay setting calculations and coordination.
  • Experience in SVC, Series Compensation, and/or HVDC converter stations is an asset.
  • Client-focused, highly autonomous, and able to work under pressure.
  • Team player with great interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in English language, both spoken and written. Additional languages will be considered an asset.
