We are continuing to expand in the Bay area (San Francisco, CA).  We are looking for Resident Engineers experienced in various engineering disciplines including Civil, Electrical and Mechanical.

You will provide technical expertise and lead construction management activities and support Construction Management (CM) teams supporting a large-scale public transit and commuter rail systems-related capital program.

How will you contribute to the team?  

  • Serve as the Client’s representative with the Contractor on all Contract related matters and the primary contact for the Client and home office staff.

  • Administer the construction contract, implement quality plans to assure all construction work is completed in conformance to the contract documents, implement environmental compliance requirements and procedures, manage schedules, costs, and change orders, and maintain all construction documentation and records.

  • Approve schedule submittals, updates, and revisions, and prepare monthly assessments of project status.

  • Write and issue field orders, initiate change proposals for design team review and approval, estimate cost of changes, negotiate costs with contractors, and recommend acceptance to the Construction Project Manager.

  • Accountable for the planning, coordination and inspection, and construction management activities and assignments of all direct reporting staff to ensure efficient utilization of staffing.

  • Supervise and direct the activities of the project CM team working days, nights and weekends and ensure conformance to established policies and procedures for the management of the project.

  • Provide oversight of the field construction inspectors during the project construction phase including - preparation of inspectors' daily work schedules, ensuring site safety monitoring, technical oversight, quality of construction, and Client satisfaction.

  • Ability to evaluate, resolve and provide solutions to contractors and construction inspectors for constructability issues encountered during construction.

  • Communicate and interface with internal/external team members and authorities involved in the planning, design, execution, and construction activities.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

What will you contribute?  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in construction management of large and complex engineering/construction transit projects.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Civil) in the State of California is preferred.

  • Certification as a Certified Construction Manager is preferred.

  • Hands on experience supporting and delivering projects on live, active transit/rail systems.

  • Direct experience functioning as an owner's representative on large scale transit/transportation programs.

  • Experience in the evaluation and validation of contractors change order requests against contract documents, negotiating change orders costs and schedule impacts and make recommendations to the Construction Manager and Program Manager.

  • Knowledge and experience in performing inspection and resident engineering activities in active transit system environments, construction site safety standards, operations requirements, and force account services support.

  • Experience working on projects involving an operating railroad and involving third rail power.

  • BART or Caltrans experience is preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, or related construction packages.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with owners, stakeholders, and contractors.

Expected compensation range is between $105,000 - $135,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
