Our team is currently delivering work across the Transmission and Distribution sectors across the UK as well as supporting other Energy and infrastructure business sectors. We are in a position where we need to grow our team to enhance our capability and strengthen our service offering. As such we are recruiting a Senior Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering team.
What you’ll be doing?

You will be working in a senior position within our Electrical Engineering team.
Building strong and trusted relationships is a key part of this role. You’ll enjoy working with others, sometimes directly at client sites, sometimes from our offices. You’ll be client focused – being able interface with clients, understand their needs and convert opportunities into successful workstreams.
You will be accountable for the following tasks including but not limited to:
- Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream for National Grid.
- Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids for NGET.
- Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work for National Grid.
- Act as TP141/equivalent assurance engineer where required.
- Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment.
- Coordination with back office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
- Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
- Ability to attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
- Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
- Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
- Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills.
You’ll need to have:
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Chartered Engineer through the IET.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in a leadership/management position in a similar environment.
- Strong understanding and leadership of the engineering projects through asset lifecycles.
- Track record of leading teams in the delivery of Front-End Engineering and design or Detailed design of EHV (132kV upwards) substation projects.
- Experience of working for a client organisation such as transmission system owner/operator, distribution network operator or a design consultancy delivering to such organisation.
- TP141 or equivalent authorised or ability to do so.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain existing and develop new client relationships.
- Experience in coaching and developing junior engineers.
- Flexibility to travel to client sites when required.
- Capability to work under tight deadlines while achieving objectives with the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
