Water Infrastructure Engineer

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure Team. In this role, the selected candidate will be part of a diverse Team of passionate professionals working hard to design efficient solutions for our municipal clients. Our work consists of a variety of design and construction services in the water/wastewater engineering sector. Some of our current projects include wastewater treatment facility design, unit process improvements, resiliency, and linear utilities design and construction. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.
• Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
• Prepares assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.
• Participates on projects involving construction activities by visiting project sites; attending contractor meetings;  reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications; assisting in recordkeeping and in generating progress report generation.
• Travels to jobsite required for observing relatively simple construction procedures and collectings samples for quality control testing.
• Keeps thorough notes and/or record of observed field activities.
• Researches site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations as applicable to assigned projects..
• Prepares material (figures, charts, and text) for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outlines, and/or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
• Performs engineering calculations under supervision of senior staff.
• Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
• Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

• EXPERIENCE:
  • 0-2 Years of professional experience in a related technical field.
• EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited college/university.
  • Masters’ Degree in Environmental Engineering (preferred)

• SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Civil3D (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Capability to develop technical writings and reports.
  • Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
  • Ability to travel to jobsite for meetings and light field duties.
  • Willing to actively participate in Professional Societies.

• PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:
  • EIT preferred or must be willing to sit for EIT within 6 months of hiring date.
