We are seeking a Web Designer to join our Orlando, FL Florida Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) group to design and produce innovative conceptual design, graphic artwork, storyboard layouts, and develop and maintain web sites for our client in Florida. Will work with an interdisciplinary group of developers and project managers out of client offices in Orlando, FL (not remote).

How will you contribute to the team?  

  • Embark on projects such as the Customer Engagement Platform (CEP) and the redesign of Floridasturnpike.com.
  • Include a range of tasks focused on creating visually appealing, user-friendly, and effective websites. Develop design concepts, templates, and prototypes & ensure a consistent and cohesive look and feel throughout the site.
  • Design graphics, icons, banners, and other visual elements. Select appropriate colors, fonts, and layouts, and ensure that the website’s visuals align with the brand’s identity and objectives.
  • Focus on the usability and accessibility of the website. Conducts user research and gathers feedback to improve the design. Responsible for creating wireframes, user flows, and site maps to plan the structure and navigation.
  • Ensure the website is mobile-friendly and responsive, in addition to designing layouts that adapt to various screen sizes and devices.
  • Test the site across different devices and browsers to ensure compatibility.
  • Collaborate with content creators to ensure that text, images, and multimedia are presented effectively.
  • Optimize design elements to improve site performance and loading times, and ensure the design supports search engine optimization (SEO) best practices.
  • Implement design elements that enhance user engagement and reduce bounce rates.
  • Develop, research, and create storyboard layouts for new applications and sections/features using appropriate design software. Design page layouts that enhance the readability and presentation of content.
  • Work closely with application developers to provide designs that are functional, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing for web applications used company wide.
  • Ensure that web sites are accessible from a variety of different environments (Explorer and Safari)
  • Assesses new standards, technologies and trends, formulates strategies and plans for future enhancement of web sites.
  • Regularly update and maintain the website to keep it current and functional.
  • Troubleshoot design-related issues and implement necessary fixes.
  • Adapt the design to accommodate new features and content updates.
  • Manage design projects from concept to completion.
  • Adhere to timelines and budgets while delivering high-quality design work.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Continuously improve skills through training, workshops, and professional development.
  • Performs other such duties as supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

What will you contribute?  

  • B.S. or B.A in Computer Science, IT-related discipline, or four years relevant computer programming experience after degrees in Engineering, or other related disciplines. This level may be achieved by practitioners with 2 years of experience since related Bachelor's degree; minimal experience required with related Master's degree if academic program provided opportunity to develop software development experience directly applicable to job. Non-degreed practitioners must demonstrate at least six years of direct experience in lieu of degree. Typical incumbent has 4-6 years' experience.
  • Knowledgeable and can integrate HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web page creation, and web site maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to evaluate new and evolving website technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools, and related website technologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of internet operations and functionality, and of a wide range of internet programming and design tools.
  • Skill in computer graphics and layout.
  • Knowledge of the Internet, FTP, and the ability to develop website documents.
  • Solid understanding of Web design, navigation, content presentation, usability best practices, and Web technology.
  • Proficient in HTML, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Frontpage and Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of browser capabilities and design constraints for Web development; flexibility and outstanding work ethic.
  • Ability to respond quickly to company and client needs.
