The Director of Benefits and Retirement at AtkinsRéalis is a strategic leader who supports our US, Puerto Rico and Mexico operations. This is a remote role with people leadership responsibilities. The incumbent will be responsible for coaching and developing two direct reports and one indirect report. As a member of the Global Total Rewards Leadership Community (TRLC), the incumbent will have the opportunity to lead and/or participate in cross-function and cross-region initiatives and projects. This role reports into the Vice-President of Total Rewards for the Americas region who is based at the corporate head office in Montréal, Canada. 

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Plan and direct the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization’s health and wellness benefits. 
  • Oversee and manage all retirement (401K, KECAP) and employee savings (ESPP) programs. 
  • Lead the development of new initiatives to establish competitive and cost-effective benefits programs and ensure our programs support the organization’s strategic objectives. 
  • Support the expansion of health benefits and retirement plan oversight and direction for the company’s LATAM operations, prioritizing Brazil and Peru. 
  • Monitor market trends, workforce needs, and the business environment to adapt benefit programs regularly. This includes monitoring of legislative updates, identifying potential impacts on our plans, and recommending relevant changes. 
  • Oversee the company’s disability management programs and oversee the relationships with absence and disability management vendors. 
  • Lead benefits renewals and partner with other departments for execution (HR, Finance, Payroll) 
  • Develop retirement plan communications and lead activities associated with retirement committees and financial wellness initiatives. 
  • Proactively curate and share external knowledge and identify technology needs or trends required to effectively deliver benefits & retirement programs. 
  • Participate in the selection of benefit vendors, contract negotiations, and establish vendor service level agreements and performance scorecards. 
  • Participating in global annual financial analysis and budget cycles. 
  • Build positive relationships across HR and the business to define strategic priorities. 

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or any related field.
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification is an asset.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in employee benefits and retirement, including 5 years in a leadership role.  
  • In-depth knowledge of health and welfare benefit plans, retirement plans and a strong knowledge of compliance requirements with government regulations. 
  • Experience with program integrations during mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Self-starter with good organizational skills.
  • MS Office suite proficiency.
