Responsibilities:

  • Integral part of the fire engineering team responsible for undertaking and delivering all tasks associated with quality fire system designs.
  • Undertake Fire design to local and international standards, including Canada, ME, UK region.
  • Understand and apply Canada / British / European, ME and Atkins Rail standards.
  • Carry out checks of other co-designer fire system designs prepared within the team.
  • Attend design team meetings, internally and with and Client.
  • Carry out duties where appropriate and deliver to Quality, Time, and Cost.
  • Author technical reports / specifications either for internal circulation or for client issue.
  • Conducting peer reviews of fire detection designs and producing technical review reports.
  • Coordinate with all other disciplines and improve inter-discipline working with other disciplines such as Architecture, Civil and Structural.

Requirements:

  • In depth understanding of Middle East engineering design standards for active and passive fire protection systems.
  • Competent by virtue of training and experience in the design of active fire systems design to British and European standards.
  • CEng status or working towards CEng or similar membership body would be preferred.
  • Relevant and appropriate experience of 5 to 10 years as a Fire Engineer within building services
  • Have a detailed knowledge of and be a competent designer to codes of practices; current BS5839, BS-EN54 standards LPS 1014 as a minimum.
  • Relevant and appropriate experience as a fire alarm designer specifying point detection, aspirating detection, and beam detection.
  • Experience of working in multi-discipline environment and good understanding of co-ordination and interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Proven experience in fire systems design of large projects.
  • Good command of the English Language and an effective communicator both written and verbal.
  • The successful applicant will be a competent user of IT tools in particular Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and how it applies to railway premises.
  • Authors technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality. Able to present their work on the project presentations and meetings.
  • Able to deliver work and integrate with larger project teams.
  • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Proactive and Member of IOP, IET or CIBSE and working towards PEng / CEng / IEng status would be preferred.
  • Relevant and appropriate experience as a designer within building services.
  • You will be a competent designer to CIBSE and NFPA standards.
  • You will have experience in Revit and delivered projects using BIM skills.
  • Demonstrates the necessary level of competence and responsibility according to the grade.
  • You will manage productivity and quality of your deliverables.
  • Maintains harmony and a productive atmosphere by being open about the work activities and project status.
  • Good command of the English Language and an effective communicator both written and verbal.
