AtkinsRéalis has an exciting full-time career opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer of 10 to 15 years’ experience to build a career in the area of Power Systems, HVDC, Transmission and Distribution. The role will be based in Egypt.

The candidate will work in a fast-paced consulting environment with excellent career growth opportunities. This position reports to the Electrical team lead.

Responsibilities

Working in collaboration with the Electrical team to prepare the following deliverables / provide the following engineering services (non-exhaustive list):

  • Development of technical specifications for the procurement of electrical equipment (comprehensive);
  • Development of conceptual and detail design of HV substations (single line diagrams, layouts, BOM, etc.);
  • Conceptual and detail design of MV distribution systems and Lvac and LVdc distribution systems;
  • Design of interfaces with protection and control systems, civil works, structures;
  • Preparation of bid documents and bid evaluations;
  • Design review of detail design performed by O.E.M. and third-party detail design;
  • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination;
  • Audits and technical assessment of HV and MV substations;
  • Construction supervision; development of installation procedures and method statements;
  • Commissioning supervision;
  • Witnessing factory testing;
  • Feasibility and techno-economic studies (substations, distribution systems, etc.);
  • Design studies and calculations (load flow, short-circuit, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, busbar design, etc.);

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, from a recognized institution (Master’s degree in power systems, an asset);
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, particularly related to power stations and/or substations;
  • Exceptional academic and professional record;
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capabilities with a focus achieving results;
  • Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Client focused, highly autonomous, and ability to work under pressure;
  • Comprehensive understanding of power system fundamentals;
  • Knowledge or experience in HVDC, FACTS, or HV Cables, an asset;
  • Eligibility for registration with a Professional Order of Engineers;
  • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE and CSA standards for electrical equipment and installations;
  • Availability for short trips to construction sites, factories, client’s offices, in Canada, international and overseas.
  • Fluency in English language, spoken and written. Additional languages will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in the following (or similar) software tools, an asset:  ETAP, CYMECAP, AUTOCAD
