DIGITAL INVESTMENT DIRECTOR:

As the Digital Investment Director your role is to translate our strategic ambition into reality by driving a coordinated portfolio of transformation projects that will collectively deliver our digital future. You will lead the prioritisation, oversight, governance and reporting on all digital investments to drive maximum return on investment.

Working alongside a team of ‘Investment Leads’, this role will help define and mobilise programmes, ensuring that cross-programme synergies are identified and responded to consistently. The Digital Investment Director will provide portfolio assurance to deliver expected outcomes aligned to our digital transformation strategy.

YOUR ROLE:

  • Manage the annual investment cycle to facilitate the prioritisation investments, and the articulation of a coherent digital investment plan/roadmap including benefits and anticipated returns.
  • Ensure clarity and connection between investment case deliverables and target returns.
  • Establish performance targets for each investment case and translate these into appropriate monitoring plans.
  • Engage with relevant stakeholders across the business to ensure the investment case meets the business need.
  • Engage with the digital practice to develop the execution plan for agreed digital investments, including the design of key management processes e.g. scope and deliverables management, budget and financial controls, progress measurement and reporting, risk and interdependency management.
  • Develop and evolve an investment programme management framework with focus on benefits and performance to ensure the portfolio of investments deliver expected outcomes.
  • Lead on the development of responses required to correct performance issues across the digital investments.
  • Manage investment approvals to enable budget draw down, maintaining a view of costs and commitments thereafter. 
  • Manage programme financials, including cost forecasts, commitment monitoring, balance to complete, and engagement with corporate finance.  
  • Maintain and manage the investment risk register and items within to the ensure that mitigations are progressed by owners in a timely manner.
  • Regularly review and challenge progress of investments, focusing on core control areas to validate progress and identify areas in need of attention.
  • Own, promote and ensure adoption of the Digital Governance Process, including management of the DGP lead.
  • Align and integrate ideas from the DGP into other investment streams where possible.
  • Run the Digital investment committee agenda.

WHO YOU ARE?

  • Highly motivated and passionate about delivering major transformation across the global business by building and utilising high performing, often virtual, teams.
  • A team player, able to manage relationships and influence and challenge across a range of stakeholders, including C-suite.
  • Experience in managing and directing large programmes with multiple projects and teams of project leaders.
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively the role of data and technology in our future business.
  • Ability to understand and communicate a variety of business models with a focus on value-based selling.
  • Understanding of key technology requirements specifically in relation to project & programme management, automation of design, and lifecycle data capture and management.
  • Experience of working across a global organisation and engaging teams across geographies and cultures.
  • Knowledge of industry trends with a focus on technology and data.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and co-ordination skills.
  • Well organised and deliverables focused with high technical and quality standards.
  • Articulate communicator with an authentic leadership style that translates effectively across both the business and client base.
  • Process orientated with a methodical and planned approach to achieving goals.
  • Excellent facilitation skills able to bring several individuals together from various teams (not necessarily all under line management “control”) to ensure the best solution is given for the need.
