Tax Data and Automation Analyst

Our global Group Tax function is actively transforming our use of technology for process improvement and automation in a wide range of local and international tax processes. This is part of long-term finance transformation, including the implementation of a single global ERP system (Oracle EBS R12) with automated indirect and withholding taxes.

Purpose of the role

As Tax Data and Automation Analyst, you will design / redesign, implement and maintain tools and systems with the purpose of improving tax process stability, efficiency, standardization, and control.

You will assist in the development of digital aspects of tax business processes. This includes the creation of reports from the ERP and peripheral systems; maintenance of shared global tax technologies (Tax in Oracle EBS R12, SAP Concur), and improving / replacing existing Excel models for tax processes in each country.

This role will initially focus on the global implementation of Oracle ERP, including gathering requirements from each country’s finance team, developing reports, and aligning existing tax processes to new data formats and constraints. After the implementation of the ERP, the role will focus on improving global and local tax processes by reviewing Excel workflows and developing automated solutions.

Whereas prior tax experience is not a requirement, the role requires very strong communication and process automation skills, with a focus on understanding tax business processes and developing new solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Identify and formulate solutions to improve existing tools and increase operational efficiency.
  • Analyze and gather documentation on current business processes and workflows.
  • Explore and recommend new solutions or technological tools (Excel macros/ Power Queries, RPA, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate etc.)
  • Lead implementation activities (including planning, design, analysis, integration testing) and provide post-implementation support to stakeholders.
  • Create data dashboards, develop metrics analysis and provide relevant reports to stakeholders.
  • Analyze and document future opportunities for the processes.
  • Support stakeholders through the change process by applying change management practices.
  • Develop and provide training to end-users - workshops, lessons learned sessions, and refresher programs related to the systems and tools implemented and used across the Finance function.
  • Follow up on all projects/ initiatives, identify risks and obstacles to meet deadlines, as well as propose corrective measures; Prepare and present project progress reports;
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities and process and/ or systems and tools standardization.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Finance or a related field
  • 2-5 years’ experience in tax and/or finance business process improvement, including creation of reports and automated workflows.
  • Proficiency in English & Romanian; French is a plus
  • Candidate based in Romania

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Power Automate:
    • Creating triggers for flows.
    • Configuring actions and implementing conditional logic.
    • Testing and troubleshooting flows.
    • Setting up approvals and notifications.
       
  • Power BI:
    • Building reports and dashboards.
    • Data modelling and transformation.
    • Connecting to various data sources.
       
  •  Microsoft Excel:
    • Developing macros or VBA
    • Designing process workbooks for non-technical users
    • Creating and managing live connections to data sources
       
  • ERP systems:
    • Familiarity with Oracle EBS or similar ERP system (SAP, MS Dynamics, etc.)
    • Writing SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
    • Understanding format and controls of Master Data used for tax analysis

  • Analytical Thinking: The ability to dissect complex processes, identify pain points, and propose efficient solutions.
  • Communication: Ability to build relationships with tax and finance teams located in over 20 countries, and to bring value to non-technical users.
  • Confidence: Ability to proactively seek out opportunities for automation and to become a trusted point of contact across the business
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshooting issues, debugging workflows, and adapting to changing requirements.
  • Project Management: Managing timelines, priorities, and deliverables during workflow automation projects.
